Dr. Elan Hekier is a highly experienced Pulmonary and Critical Care physician with 15 years of clinical and leadership experience. As the current Chief Medical Informatics and Innovation Officer (CMIO) for Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, he has spearheaded large-scale digital transformation initiatives, including the transition to Epic, regulatory compliance projects, and programs to improve physician satisfaction and operational efficiency.
In his clinical roles, Dr. Hekier has treated tens of thousands of patients in both outpatient and hospital settings, with expertise spanning sleep disorders, COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, ILD and other complex medical conditions. He has worked closely with healthcare systems and health plans to design and implement value-based care initiatives, achieving measurable outcomes and financial efficiencies.
Dr. Hekier’s leadership extends to multidisciplinary collaborations, strategic decision-making, and operational oversight, including chairing committees on pharmacy and therapeutics, and divisional operations. His efforts have been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named a “Top Doc” for 9 consecutive years and receiving the Donald Balfour Outstanding Peer Award.
